The Work of Christmas: Peace Among Brothers, Music in the Heart
By Jon Sievert
This week’s Unitarian Universalist Fellowship Service presents bells, songs, and stories to celebrate the mystery and awe of the holiday season on the final Sunday before Christmas.
“The Work of Christmas: Peace Among Brothers, Music in the Heart”
Sun, Dec 20, 10:30am
Hotel Posada de la Aldea
Ancha de San Antonio 15
This special service features acclaimed talent from San Miguel’s music and theater communities performing beloved favorites, such as “I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day” and “Stille Nacht.” There will also be a reading from Dylan Thomas’s “A Child’s Christmas in Wales.” Performers include the San Miguel Bell Choir, duo guitarists Jack & Frances, actor Ken Albanese, singers Lauren Osornio and Kate Rowland, and pianist Paula Peace.
Non-denominational readings and reflections focus on our common values of love, light, and peace. Cherished musical favorites, from Celtic music to “O Holy Night” and beloved carols such as “Joy to the World” have been selected to celebrate the diversity of the UU fellowship and San Miguel community. Following the service, all are invited for coffee and a carol sing-along.
We invite you to bring an unwrapped toy as a gift for a campo child of age 5-12. We are seeking toys such as a soccer ball, a doll or cuddly toy, games, a truck, small purses and fuzzy pillows, and crayons and coloring books. Please keep toy/gift costs around US$10 to keep all gifts of equal value for the kids.
The UU Fellowship meets every Sunday at 10:30am at Hotel Posada de la Aldea, Ancha de San Antonio 15 and welcomes people of all ages, races, religions, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Visitors are invited to attend the service and then join the UUs for coffee and snacks afterwards. The room is wheelchair accessible. For more information, visit our website at www.uufsma.org.
