Major Samuel Ringgold and the Yankee Invasion of Mexico

What’s commonly known to people of the United States as the Mexican-American War is still a painful memory in Mexico. From 1846 to 1848 the United States invaded, fought, and conquered a great deal of Mexican territory. What prompted the United States to begin this war? How did US soldiers compare to those of Mexico? Major San Ringgold of the US Army was a highly celebrated figure in that conquest, and is known now as the father of modern artillery. What was his role in all of this?

Come to Rotary Tuesday, December 8, at 12:30pm to learn all of this and more when Nate Fultz shares an historic biography of Ringgold and his Yankee invasion of Mexico. The presentation will be free and in English at Hotel Misión, Salida a Querétaro 1.

Fultz is a retired teacher from Texas, where he was the president of his county’s historical society. His community involvements include Rotary, where he is currently the club’s secretary; Saint Paul’s Church, where he is a Sunday school teacher; Feed the Hungry, for whom he drives, and Sanmiguelenses Unidos, where he is the secretary.
