Home for the Holidays came together when some of the top vocalists of San Miguel de Allende were talking about their favorite holiday songs. They decided to create this special musical production as their holiday gift to the community.

In the spirit of love, peace, and laughter, the variety of holiday music includes “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas,” “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” Songs will be in English, Spanish, French, and Hebrew and include a few audience sing-alongs.

A Holiday Craft Bazaar will be held outside the Playhouse before the show from 2 to 6pm, showcasing local vendors of handicrafts and holiday gift items. The Holiday Craft Bazaar is free and open to the public. During the bazaar, festive carolers will entertain singing a cappella in four-part harmony.

Kate Rowland is the musical director. An actress, singer, director, and voice coach, she has performed extensively in plays, musicals, and operas. Kate’s musical creativity formed the show.

Jim Newell is the stage director of Home for the Holidays. A professional actor for 38 years, he was the founder of the San Miguel Theater Company and directs staging for this production. Lorelei Cappel is the accompanist and the carolers are directed by Maggie Bunce.

The joyful singers are Eli Hahn, Judy Marzulli, Kate Rowland, Jim Wright, Anne Campbell, Gerri Baruch, Clara Dunham, Alicia Rappoport, and the carolers.

The San Miguel Playhouse, created by the San Miguel Theater Company, was built with traditions in mind, specifically, the theater traditions of its founder, Jim Newell. His love of theater inspired him to organize a group of actors in San Miguel with the same dream as his: to create a space built by actors for actors.

The Playhouse is a warm and cozy home to the theater community of San Miguel⎯actors, musicians, vocalists, set designers, costumers, directors, graphic artists, stage hands⎯all the people who come together to put on a production for love, not money. The San Miguel Theater Company is a non-profit organization for the community of San Miguel.

We are grateful to our Premier Sponsor Ivy de Pozzo of Coldwell Banker Smart for her support of this production.

Tickets to Home for the Holidays are 200 pesos and 100 pesos for children under 12. They may be purchased Monday to Friday, starting November 30, from 10am to 2pm at Galería Ensueños, located at Mesones 57A on the corner of Reloj. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.

The Playhouse is located at Av. Independencia 82 and offers free, secure parking and taxi concierge service. A cup of ponche and holiday cookies are the theater’s gift to all ticket holders.

The magic of the holidays never ends and its greatest of gifts is family and friends. Happy Holidays from the San Miguel Playhouse. See you at the show!
