Catar: Encounter with Dionysius, Natalia, and Susana
By Jesús Aguado
The third Catar festival event will take place in San Miguel de Allende, featuring wine tasting from national and international wine regions, food pairings, and concerts.
Catar invites wine lovers to understand the magic of Dionysius as well as the beauty and culture of San Miguel and Guanajuato during three days from December 4 to 6.
The inauguration of this event will take place at the enchanting vineyard of Toyán, “the only Sanmiguelense wine producer with aged wine” as described by the coordinator of the event, Nicolás Márquez. Rancho Toyán has a vast extension of land where the vineyard lies. The wine is aged under the roots of the plants, 14 meters underground in the cava, a spiritual place watched over by friars, where the owners give thanks to the earth for the production.
Martha Molina, owner of Toyán, told Atención that the inauguration will be on Friday, December 4, at 1pm, continuing all day long. There will be live music—of all genres—folkloric dances, wine tastings, and other activities. At 8:30pm, the presentation of Mexican singer Natalia Lafourcade at the amphitheater will crown the event. Recently, Lafourcade won five Grammys at the 16th Latin Grammy Awards. She is popular for singles like “Amarte duele,” “Busca un problema” and “En el 2000.” Tickets for the concert cost 700 pesos general and 1,100 pesos for the whole event, including the concert. Tickets are on sale on boletea.com.
On December 5 and 6, Catar will continue in Guanajuato at Plaza de las Ranas from 1 to 9pm. The concert with Susana Zabaleta (Ambassador of Mexican Wine) will be held at the esplanade of the Alhóndiga de Granaditas. Tickets for the whole event cost 560 pesos (including the concert). VIP tickets, just for the concert, cost 450 pesos and are available at boletea.com.
