The Devil (Doesn’t) Wear Prada

Insider’s edge

By Gregory Gunter

The devilish Anna Wintour may have worn Prada, but why bother when San Miguel de Allende’s fashionistas have so much more local style to strut? Local designer Angela Nasta’s Sindashi owned the stage at the Second Annual Art of Fashion fundraiser benefiting Mujeres en Cambio last month, when 15 local models sported the store’s hand-painted couture, ranging from simple to sexy. Models included the local doyenne of fashion modeling, Mittie Roger—her toe-to-heel strut lessons had four new protégés sashaying down the runway—Patronato Pro Niños’ own Betse Davies, White Lantern event venue owner Barbara Poole, and a host of the old and new board, soon to be headed by Misty Haskett. If only the devil had those stilettos!
