Perfect Day in Food and Art

By Karen Ocampo

We recommend you start your day with breakfast at Instituto Allende, where you can feel the cultural atmosphere everywhere. Take breakfast with delight, having the colorful historical mural in front of you and the esplanade next to you in the background.

If you’re feeling an empty place in your stomach, of course you can’t pass by Café Santa Ana. Located on the premises of La Biblioteca Pública (public library), it has walls full of paintings and drawings, undoubtedly emanating culture and art. You can marvel at the mural on the sala Quetzal paintings room or take a book to read while nibbling on freshly prepared bread and savoring the fresh coffee.

Later, take a little escape to Tapas. In this place of small bites, the walls change monthly with new paintings in order to promote sanmiguelense art.

And in case you can’t find a place at night that stirs all your senses, go to the hotel bar Moxi. This is a place with the most eclectic and irreverent contemporary art. You can enjoy enormous Spencer Tunik photographs and “Break in Case of Emergency” nichos, small boxes filled with religious figures.
