Trip to Cuernavaca
By Janice Page
The Lions are off on a trip to Cuernavaca. A first class bus will leave from St. Paul’s Church at 8am on Wednesday, November 18, and return on Friday, November 20. There will be a stop for comida at Las Mañanitas, a beautiful restaurant with birds, sculptures, and exotic plants. There will be sightseeing time in the center of Cuernavaca. The group will stay two nights at the lovely Hosteria Las Quintas on the outskirts of Cuernavaca. The hotel’s grounds are like a botanical garden with statues and fountains, and there are two swimming pools. The two breakfasts served here are huge buffets with many options. There will be a trip to Xochicalco, near Cuernavaca, which is one of the top three archeological sites in Mexico. There will be a stop in Metepec on the way home for lunch and a chance to visit the shops that make the trees of life pottery/sculptures. The cost of the trip is 3,800 pesos (around US$255) for a single room, and 2,700 pesos per person for a double (around US$180) based on at least 30 participants. Reservations can be made by contacting Janice Page at 152 5541 (firstname.lastname@example.org). Seat selection on the bus will be in the order of making a reservation/signing up.
Money (in pesos) is due on Tuesday, November 3, and will be collected at Actinver Bank on San Francisco between 10am and noon. The cost includes transportation, hotel accommodations, breakfasts, tips, and taxes plus two cocktail parties and a donation to the Lions. The Lions Club gives eye exams, provides glasses, and does diabetes testing. Paying on the date due is important to insure hotel reservations. If you are unable to be there on the due date, please send someone else with the money in pesos.
