We are only days away from the start of the 2015 San Miguel International Storytelling Festival and there are many activities and performances, so if you haven’t already, don’t wait too long to get your tickets. We were 100 percent sold out last year.
Wed, Oct 14-Sat, Oct 17
Bellas Artes Auditorium
See article for events and schedule
Tickets are at La Conexión, Aldama 3; Café Monet; and Calzada de la Aurora 30, Int1
We have a line-up of people for the two-day competition who are all well-seasoned storytellers. You will hear stories that will make you laugh, cry, contemplate, and reflect. The story topics are eclectic and the variety is wide-ranging. As you read this, students are in a two-day workshop led by professional storytellers who will coach and tutor participants in the art of storytelling and presentation. As decided by the instructors, two of the people from this workshop will be chosen from the Workshop Competition to participate in the final competition days.
The MC for the two days of competition is Drae Campbell, who was the grand prize winner last year. And the Showcase and Awards Ceremony will be emceed by Carol Merchasin, who tied for second runner up in last year’s competition. Both Drae and Carol will perform during the Showcase and Awards Ceremony.
And, at each day of competition you will be voting on Most Dramatic Story, Most Humorous Story, and Favorite Story. At the Showcase and Awards Ceremony, the judges will present their winners for Runner-Up Best Story and Grand Prize Best Story. These two storytellers will repeat their award-winning stories.
This festival is not to be missed. We hope you will come to all of the events and participate in the selection of some of the winners and enjoy hearing from all our storytellers.
