This is your chance to read and listen in Spanish, improve your vocabulary, and have fun. This is a magical young adult book about reading, libraries, and books. You will have a chance to read out loud and listen. It will not be a class to learn grammar, but one for reading appreciation and practice with a marvelous book.
Carmen Rioja, the Spanish language conference director of the San Miguel Writers’ Conference, will teach the class. She is founder and executive coordinator of Instituto de Conservación de la Cultura, AC and has served on the board of directors of La Biblioteca. She is the author of the short story book, La Muerte Niña (El Hechicero Books). Her work has been published in anthologies, magazines, and newspapers. She is a conservation artist specializing in colonial and archaeological collections and promotes cultural arts events throughout the region. In addition, she is a friend of the author and an expert on many of his books. She recently gave a class to the teachers of rural communities who will be teaching this book to their students during this same time period. Five hundred books have been given to children in communities surrounding San Miguel this year by Libros para Todos.
Please join us on Tuesdays in October (6, 13, 20, 27) and November (3, 10), 1-2:30pm in the Sala Literaria in Bellas Artes (Centro Cultural Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante”). The cost is 100 pesos donation per class, or 500 pesos for all six classes.
For information and registration please contact Susan Neulist at email@example.com. Please register by email; payment can be made at the first class.
