Guerra, Theater in Both English and Spanish
By Emeraude Palomino
Two soldiers, Sergeant (Fernando Córdova) and General (Artús Chávez), in the middle of a tedious and absurd day, receive a call announcing the beginning of a new war. Through a raffle they recruit someone from the audience (Madeleine Sierra) to turn into a soldier and force her to fight in the war. This poor victim of destiny will return from battle more and more beaten physically and morally—meanwhile they experience the war from the comfort of an office.

Guerra, a theatrical performance in English and Spanish, is the story of three incompetent officers who fight against an enemy they have never seen. Their story, intimate and epic ,includes recruitment and bloody songs.
Guerra is a take on the military reality in Mexico and the United States, mixing them with comedy to create an irreverent and dark satire.
Created by Seth Brockey, Devon de Mayo, and la Piara teatro, Guerra stars Artús Chávez, Fernando Córdova and Madeleine Sierra. Guerra has been presented in New York, Chicago, Madrid, and Mexico City, and is recommended by Time Out New York’s critic. Appropriate for anyone aged 7 to 99 years old.
The only presentation in San Miguel de Allende will be on September 26 at 7pm at the Ángela Peralta theater. Tickets available at the theater or at Café de la Mancha (Recreo 21 A) and Ferretería Lara (Hidalgo 100).
Tickets sold for this function will benefit the new local theater company, Rey Perro.
