Smile, You Are in San Miguel

By Karen Ocampo

Last September 12 Teatro Santa Ana’s walls vibrate along with the Cracow Duo’s melodious notes. A Polish duet comprised of a cellist and a pianist who, after studying in Krakow, assumed the name of this city.

“Kalinowski and Szlezer, friends since childhood, have a wonderfully natural rapport and there is an arresting quality to their playing that gives life to the music” –The Strad magazine.

Martin Rosenberg, along with the Polish Embassy in Mexico, organized this event to raise funds for the Library’s children’s scholarship program. “The library is one of the most important community centers in the city, and we do it all for the children,” said Martin, who later expressed hope that the spirit of music could awaken people’s sensitivity.
