Born and Growing Up with Freedom Forum

By Karen Ocampo

In an effort to offer information about reproductive justice, equality in human rights, security, and protection for everyone, CASA presented its Born and Growing Up with Freedom forum.

During September 3, 4 and 5, different activists, professionals, and traditional midwives and experts gathered to provide information on technology and communication, sexual and reproductive rights, and art as a tool for resistance for teenagers, young activists and new midwives.

The program aimed to encourage the audience to become agents of change through hearing the successful stories of midwives and young people who are responding to social challenges.

Among those present were cultural managers and local human rights defenders, such as César Arias, Mario Hernández, and José Luis Mendoza; composers, musicians, and singers like Liliana Felipe and Regina Orozco; cabaret artist and drag queen Roberto Cabral; and experts on maternal health, Marinah Valenzuela, Gabriela Zebadua, Kate Norman Frometa, and Francisco Posadas, to name a few.
