Don’t miss this tribute concert in honor of the great Benny Moré. Here are bios of the featured artists.

Gabriel Hernández: pianist, founded of the Opus Fervet group and participated in several international jazz festivals (Montreal, Montreux, Jambori in Poland, Jazz Fest, Danubio Jazz Fest, Yugoslavia). His worked with famous New York jazz and blues singer, Leon Tomas, and shared the stage with the famous Dizzy Gillespie.

Alfred Thompson: professional, musical director, saxophonist, arranger, composer and discographic producer. He began his career as a performer and arranger in the renowned Latin Jazz quartet Fervet OPUS, leading to his storied national and international career participating in major tours and festivals.

Alex Guardiola: trumpeter. He was part of some of the notable Cuban music groups from 1995 to 1998 and then moved to Mexico. Once established in Mexico, he began to participate in different projects and jazz festivals held in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Jalapa, Mexico, and San Miguel de Allende, consolidating his musical experience in Latin jazz with talented musicians of the world.

Julián Mendieta: debuted at 14 as a percussionist in his grandfather’s group. He studied music theory and instruments in the only union for music workers in Mexico City. His youthful restlessness led him to create his own salsa group, Creation. He was invited to perform at the Brownsville, Texas, salsa festival and the Festival de Jazz de San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato. He later ventured into interpretation of bolero, receiving favorable criticism from the famous Cuban journalist, Jorge Petinaud Martínez. He later did two stellar programs for Cuban National Broadcasting. Mendieta has participated in the Festival of Cuban Culture in San Miguel de Allende since its founding. Outstanding in his performance in 2008 dedicated to Benny Moré, he opened the concert and shared the stage with Cuban superstar Orlando Valle Maraca. Mendieta, a singer and percussionist, has recorded with artists of international stature.

Yvez Rodríguez: trumpeter. He accompanied several Mexican and international artists, such as Lila Downs, Armando Manzanero, Eugenia León, Carlos Rivera, Oscar de León, Eddy Santiago, Pancho Céspedes, Victor García, Sonora Alchemy XXI, Calle 13, Nelly Furtado, and Antidoping Reggae, participating in the largest venues in Mexico. He is director and founder of the Reggae Nation band.
