To celebrate International Youth Day, the local administration offered a lecture for young sanmiguelenses with comedian Consuelo Duval.
The 46-year-old actress, popular for several characters on TV, commented that she has been an orphan since she was years old and the lack of a maternal image in her life has not led her to depression, alcoholism, or use of drugs. It was not an obstacle in her fight to fulfill her dreams. Duval summoned the attendees to find shelter in drugs that cannot damage them, like music, painting, literature, sculpture, or dance—any activity that is good for their health and for other people’s integrity.” The lecture took place on Thursday, August 20.

The grape harvest events continue. On Saturday, August 22, La Santísima Trinidad pampered the attendants with food, wine of the house, tango, workshops, and a polo game.
On August 30, the local authorities crowned the queen of the rural communities. This event has been held during the last 60 years to elect the woman who, with her beauty, talents, and culture, will promote the improvement of the rural communities and will represent the less fortunate. The stage of the Ángela Peralta Theater was adorned with giant stars of La Alborada and indigenous giant puppets (mojigangas). There was music with Mariachi Aguascalientes and singer Alicia López. In the end, the winner was María Guadalupe Segura from La Palmilla; the first princess is Diana Stephanía from Calderón; and the second princess is María Anahí Cruz from los Galvanes.
