On Tuesday, July 21, the committee members of the GIFF Film Festival and their special guests (mostly from Turkey) enjoyed a tour at the archaeological site of Cañada de la Virgen.

The visit was organized by the company Coyote Canyon Adventures and guided by Alberto Aveleyra, anthropologist at the National School of Anthropology and History, who specialized in sociocultural research and sustainable tourism; he focused his degree research on pre-Hispanic Mexico.

For seven years Coyote Canyon Adventures has been offering GIFF festival special guests adventure activities such as a horseback riding through the main canyon of this region, night horseback riding in San Miguel de Allende, balloon flights, and more.

On this occasion, Aveleyra offered the 36 guests a tour at the pyramid, located just 25 kilometers west of San Miguel. The visit was nearly four hours; during this time the participants enjoyed the spectacular views of the pyramid and the landscape, and they also learned in detail the origins and history of the site and its surroundings. At the end, everyone was very surprised by the wonders that you can find just a few kilometers from San Miguel and the cultural wealth available in the region.
