Legendary Egyptian Actor Omar Sharif

Dr. Zhivago

By David Johanssen

His fiery temper and womanizing ways earned him a reputation as the knave of hearts. Sharif dated some of the world’s most glamorous women and admitted to falling in love with co-stars Ingrid Bergman and Ava Gardner. Who could forget the dashing and charming man with memorable roles in Dr. Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia, and even Funny Girl? Omar Sharif was definitely a legend, becoming the first Arab actor to achieve worldwide fame and Hollywood recognition. Unfortunately, he died recently from a heart attack in a hospital in Cairo. He was 83.

Join us on Sunday, August 2, at 3pm for a presentation of Dr. Zhivago. See the classic film on the biggest screen in Centro, as it was meant to be seen. Omar Sharif melted the hearts of millions of women with his portrayal of Yuri Zhivago. 50 pesos.

To remember him, we’ve gathered several quotes, reminding us why he was so loved:

“I don’t know what sex appeal is. I don’t think you can have sex appeal knowingly.”

“The people who seduce me personally are the people who seem not to know they’re seductive, and not to know they have sex appeal.”

“My philosophy is that when I go out of my room, I’m prepared to love everybody I meet, unless they’re bad.”

“I had too many big passions in life and it gets in the way of work. You can’t concentrate properly on the one thing.”

“I don’t think any actor feels comfortable watching themselves in movies. You must be very narcissistic.”

“The extraordinary thing is that the Jews believe that only the a Jew can go to paradise, the Christians believe that only a Christian can go to paradise and the Muslims believe that only a Muslim can go to paradise. Now why should God, in his great justice, make somebody born that cannot go to paradise, it is absurd. Please forgive me, I don’t mean to say it’s absurd, people made it absurd.”
