Do You Have a Home for an SPA August Pet of the Month?

From the SPA

By Lynn Weisberg and Joan DiPiero

To us, it’s fascinating to see how dogs from the same litter can bear no physical resemblance to each other. Gina and Lola are perfect examples of that phenomenon. Although both are medium-sized, their physical similarities stop there. However, they are devoted to each other. They live in side-by-side casitas and when one is let out, she goes immediately to her sister’s place to wait for her to be let out as well. They are highly energetic and strong dogs, with good protective instincts. Their joy in being able to play together in our exercise area is obvious, even though their way of playing involves lots of growling, running, and leaping. They are strong, beautiful animals and would thrive in a setting that provides a good deal of enclosed outdoor space. If you are looking for a couple of loving dogs who will also be able to warn you of intruders, please consider these girls. Now almost two years old, they are ready to become some family’s best friends.

Xena was rescued from the Botanical Garden after she was deemed an unwanted guest and brought to the SPA. A beautiful tortoise girl, with a split orange face, she’s under two years old and would love another chance at a home. Besides her lovely looks, she is tranquil and affectionate and gets along beautifully with our other cats. Iggy is a one-year-old boy, saved from total blackness by a white tipped tail and chest spot. He’s a sweet and good-natured little guy, a bit on the shy side. Be prepared when you start petting him—he breaks into an instantaneous loud purr, letting you know just how much he appreciates attention.

Adopt (400 pesos) any of these Pets of the Month during August and receive a free adoption kit. Preview all our available animals at www.spasanmiguel.org (Adopt Me! pages) and meet them at Los Pinos 7, Monday-Saturday between 11am and 2pm. The adoption fee includes sterilization, vaccinations, and deworming.

While you’re perusing our website, please sign up to sponsor a casita! The casita program is described here: www.spasanmiguel.org/how-you-can-help/support-fundraising. It is one way to underwrite some of our monthly costs to support our resident animals (about 100 cats/dogs). Get your own beautiful, hand-painted, personally inscribed Big Bone Designer Plaque or Big Fish Designer Plaque created for new sponsors of the SPA casita fundraiser program. The cost is only US$30/US$360 (or peso equivalent).
