Alfredo Muro Concert: Gems of Latin America and Spain
By William O. Gregg
St. Paul’s Anglican Church is very pleased to welcome guitarist Alfredo Muro for a return concert on Friday, August 7, at 6pm. Mr. Muro is an international concert guitarist, interpreter, composer, arranger, and improviser. He has been described as a Latin guitar virtuoso, but his musical styles and tastes are far more versatile, ranging from standing classical repertoire to jazz. His forte is South American music in its many guises: folk, jazz, Brazilian, classical. Whatever the style, it’s the emotional content of his music that carries the day.
Fri, Aug 7, 6pm
St. Paul’s Church
Muro will play a selection of music from Latin America, and Spain, and other gems, including works by Thelonius Monk, Jobim, and Baden Powell. He plays with energy, clarity, and passion, giving his audience an experience of the range and power of the guitar in the hands of a superb musician.
As with his first concert, Muro has also chosen to share the proceeds with the St. Paul’s pre-school, Centro Infantil San Pablo. So, in addition to a lovely evening of very fine music, each ticket will provide a gift to this excellent pre-school. Centro Infantil San Pablo is located in Colonia Providencia. The school services three, four, and five year olds from the surrounding community. Founded in 2001, the school provides a high quality pre-school educational experience with certified teachers in a fully registered school. Tracking students as they move through primaria has shown that they arrive well prepared and continue to do well.
The public is cordially invited to join us for a wonderful recital. St. Paul’s is located at del Cardo 6. Tickets will be 200 pesos, with open seating and may be purchased in advanced at St. Paul’s (10 am-5 pm M-F) or at the door.
