Blues Concert Tribute to BB King—a Benefit for Ojalá Niños!
By Antonio Lozoya
There will be an extraordinary benefit concert at the XXI International Festival of Jazz and Blues in San Miguel de Allende for the nonprofit organization Ojalá Niños.
Tribute to BB King
Sat, Jul 25, 7pm
The theme of this concert is a “Tribute to BB King,” a legend of blues music, who recently died. The music will performed by the Craig Caffall Blues Band (Craig Caffall, guitar and voice, Antonio Lozoya, Bass, and Rick Shlosser, drums, with the participation of special guests).
Ojalá Niños offers free daily year-round classes to over 100 children in the rural community of San Miguel Viejo. Classes in arts, music, literacy, health, environment; and social service. It is a legally established nonprofit with the admirable goal of building a community learning center that will also be accessible to folks from more remote areas. Imagine…a real library, computer center, more class and community spaces, a big kitchen and bathrooms. San Miguel Viejo is an indigenous Otomí community full of talented, unsung artists and can become a destination for visitors who will surely lift their spirits and their economy. We invite you to visit the Ojalá Niños AC website, where you will find additional information about its activities and ways to help: http://ojala-ninos.org/
We also invite you to participate and support this event wich has a noble cause: promoting childhood education the future of our society. Educating and sensitizing children and adolescents in the arts has been a goal of the festival for several years now, and every year a Jazz and Blues workshop targets at elementary, secondary, and high school in our community. Tickets will be on sale at La Conexión and Solutions.
