One of the many outstanding characteristics of San Miguel de Allende that appeals to most of us and captures our hearts is the generosity of spirit of many business owners and residents to those in need. San Miguel can easily be described as a very caring and giving community.
Local restaurant owner and chef Donnie Masterton is an excellent example of this generosity. A percentage of the Sunday proceeds of lunch and dinner from his fine establishment, The Restaurant at Sollano 16, have been donated to many different San Miguel nonprofits throughout the year. During the month of April, the School for Special Education was chosen as a deserving cause and was recently presented with a check in the amount of 10,500 pesos by owner Donnie Masterton.
The Escuela de Educación Especial de San Miguel de Allende (San Miguel School for Special Education) has a mission to provide quality education and vocational training to children and young adults who are deaf or hearing impaired to ensure they become literate, independent, and productive citizens who can set and achieve life goals. This generous act of kindness will help the school achieve the goals set for some very special young people. You can learn more about the school at www.eeesma.com.
Please visit The Restaurant on Sundays, and bring your family and your friends, to enjoy a great dining experience and, in the process, help a deserving local nonprofit. You’ll find it very satisfying to the palate and good for the soul.
Thank you, Donnie. And thank you to the many other kind and generous folks of San Miguel de Allende who support so many worthwhile endeavors.
