Remember Gordon Logan with Charitable Donations
By Muriel Logan
The San Miguel community has lost Gordon Logan, but his memory will live on with your donations to the projects he loved.
Casita Linda is a wonderful organization that alters lives by providing safe, dry housing to some of the poorest people in San Miguel. Casita Linda houses have roofs that do not leak, concrete rather than dirt floors, windows that open and close, and doors that lock. Casita Linda has put more than 400 children and adults in houses. At the beginning, Gordon was out with the other gringo men doing hands-on building of these homes in poor communities. Then he served on the board for eight years.
Tax-deductible contributions via checks should be made payable to the San Miguel Community Foundation with “Casita Linda, A.C.” on the memo line and sent to the US mailing address:
Casita Linda, A.C.
220 N. Zapata Hwy. 11
Laredo, TX 78043
For those who do not require a US tax deduction, checks can be made payable directly to Casita Linda, A.C. and sent to the US mailing address.
Rotary Club of San Miguel Midday Gordon was one of the founding members and the third president. You may donate to their rainwater catchment cistern project, which is helping needy communities around San Miguel with either no water or contaminated water to gather rainwater from their flat roofs into 1200-liter cisterns. This provides water for drinking and cooking. From the US, send your check made out to Club Rotario del Medio Dia AC.

Feed the Hungry is another wonderful local organization that builds and equips kitchens for schools in the surrounding communities in order to provide a nutritious lunch to the students. This is often the only healthy meal they get in a day. They train the staff and deliver the foodstuffs weekly to run the programs. Gordon worked in their associated English language program in one of the communities, a real departure for him. Send checks made out to: Feed the Hungry San Miguel, Inc. (for a US tax-receipt)

Computadoras Pro Jóvenes is a local organization that accepts donated computers, mostly from expat residents. The technical guys then “scrub” the hard drives, install donated Spanish language software appropriate for students, and provide them to schools and scholarship students. Gordon was the guy who picked up the computers from donors and delivered them to the workshop.
Checks can be made out to Computadoras Pro Jóvenes. Send them to

If you are in San Miguel, you can probably reach these organizations to donate directly, but if you need more information, Google their websites or contact me for help.
Thanks in advance for your generosity in memory of Gordon.
