Celebrating the School Year at Aprendizaje del Inglés
By Linda Curran
Enthusiastic students recently read poems and dialogues and sang songs to their families to end the semester and school year at their English school in Colonia Guadalupe. Parents and students subsequently signed and dedicated books, purchased with the tuition money. These books will be given to local and rural schools through our Mobile Library. The afternoon ended with food and conversation enjoyed by all!
A big thank you to Katy Swailes, educational intern from Scarborough, England; Jenny White, educational intern from Boston, Massachusetts; and local profesora, Aurora Trujillo, for their classroom support! Thank you, volunteers Claudia Bautista, Lindy Marchuk, and Sophie and Tessa Lillis. Thank you, Christina Ruckel, Gary Cooke, Jane and Andrew Morse, and Rosa Maria Rangel Bautista for your book donations. Thank you, Victoria Piera, for your monetary contribution.
Aprendizaje del Inglés is one of three initiatives of Libros Sin Fronteras, A.C. Fall classes September 7 when Eleanor Stevens, educational intern from Sacramento, will join us. The second and third initiatives are the Mobile Library and a Student Exchange Program between aspiring, motivated, and intelligent Mexican and North American students.
