As the sun sets and the full moon rises, “What the Funk” will put fire in your dancing shoes!

Funk is a music genre that originated in the mid-to late-60s when African-American musicians created a rhythmic, danceable new form of music through a mixture of soul music, jazz, and R and & B. Funk de-emphasizes melody and harmony and brings a strong, rhythmic groove of electric bass and drums to the foreground. Funk songs are often based on an extended vamp on a single chord, distinguishing them from R and & B and soul songs, which are built on chord progressions. Funk uses the same extended chords found in bebop jazz.

“What the Funk” is a magically versatile new San Miguel- based funk band that performs songs from some of the greatest funk artists of all time while putting in their own spice and twist to each tune.

Something very special about this band can be seen through the dynamic Lynx Maple. He is known for his amazing vocals. He sings a sweet falsetto and goes really deep down low. He’s a true talent to behold.  The wonders of drummer Yamil Almaguer can be felt as he lays down the beat on his drums. The house will be vibrating throughout the night. The fiery Roger Si on guitar and smoking-hot Rafa Palacios on bass round out the band. What the Funk will be playing everything from Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Erika Badu to D’Angelo and many, many others. These guys will “blow you away” with their “funkified” classic rock songs as well!

It’s Italian Night (Italian pasta, pizza, Sicilian sausage, organic salad, etc.) at 75 pesos a plate. We’re serving fantastic organic beer and wine. As as well as refreshments.

The party starts at 7:30pm, sharp. Be ready for some special guests and a few surprises that will blow your mind away.

Tickets are limited! Adults 150 pesos, children 50 pesos. Advance tickets available at Vía Orgánica or Casa Angelitos. Tel. 415 154-7448. Tickets at the door, 200 pesos. Get ready for a night of dance, live music, good food, and fun at Casa Angelitos!
