San Miguel Viewed from the Terraces

By Sandra Ríos

San Miguel has beautiful views, and at this time of year, you can appreciate the beautiful jacaranda trees, the flowers, and some amazing sunsets along with the colonial architecture that characterizes this city. To enjoy San Miguel from different angles, we recommend the following places.

Start your day with a stroll through the Parque del Chorro, located along one of the steepest and most sinuous curves that give a magical aspect to the place. Go up the stairs and take a rest on each terrace to appreciate the greenery and the overview of Parque Juárez. if you keep going up, you will find a sculpture dedicated to the Virgin Mary and Juan Diego. Then go up a few steps more until you reach the top, where you have the opportunity to observe white herons resting in the trees, together with a fantastic view.

Then head to the Plaza Principal (the Jardín) to visit different terraces. You can start with the Mama Mia terrace, where you can order a pizza and a drink while enjoying the view of Umarán street.

Another terrace with a nice view and excellent atmosphere is La Azotea, relax with a refreshing cocktail and try its tasty taco of jicama with shrimp.

Umarán 6, Centro. 152 4977

Another terrace to visit is El Cielo, with one of the most beautiful views of San Miguel. You can appreciate the Parroquia (main church), the background mountains, and a spectacular sunset. Ask for a martini to enjoy along with the view.

Correo 9, Centro. 154 5660

Finally, visit the terrace of the Rosewood Hotel, Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar. This bar has a unique 360-degree view of San Miguel. You can appreciate the expanse of jacaranda trees, homes, mountains, and of course the Parroquia of San Miguel, whether during a colorful sunset or in starlight. If you want to eat here, ask for its international tapas menu and the cocktail of the day.
