Calling all Canadians on Canada Day/Fête du Canada
By Marc Brien and Susan Sparrow
You know you’re Canadian when your Halloween costume has to be big enough to fit over a snowsuit.
Canada Day/Fête du Canada
Wed, Jul 1, 3pm-6pm
Salida a Querétaro 1
50 pesos entry includes botanas
The San Miguel Canadian Club invites all Canucks to join us from 3pm to 6pm on Wednesday, July 1, in the beautiful grounds of the Hotel Misión for a fun Canada Day party.
The previous Canadian Club event was sold out well ahead of time. Be sure to reserve your place today by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Your 50 pesos entry will include botanas served in the gardens around the hotel’s swimming pool (swimmers, bring your bathing suit and a towel). A cash bar will be available.
Embassy staff from Mexico City will join us. They are bringing giveaways and will draw prizes for the lucky ones. Fellow Canadian and La Noche Piano Bar owner Johnny Favourite will lead us in “O Canada.”
The Hotel Misión, located at the top of the Salida a Querétaro hill on the way to the Luciérnaga Mall, is well served by a municipal bus stop near the hotel’s front door and has ample parking for those who drive. If the weather does not cooperate, the party will move inside. Join us July 1 to celebrate the majesty of the Canadian landscape and its diverse people. By the way, Canuck is said to derive from the Cree wolf-spirit Kannuk. So, we’ll see you all at the Hotel Misión for a howling good time.
Reservations are required. Places will go fast; reserve for yourself, your family, and friends today. For each person attending, let us know the name, email address, hometown in Canada (past, if now living in San Miguel), and whether full or part-time in San Miguel. Be assured that the Canadian Club mailing list is not shared with anyone.
