By Almitri Tzigane

I began this project in 2008 in Cd Juárez Chihuahua México. It all started out of searching the origin of the music I was listening to at the time (Heavy Metal). I wouldn’t settle knowing it came from “classic rock” as everybody told me. So I went backwards in music history, listening and reading, and it took me back to the early 1900s in New Orleans. Of course I could go back even more, but this particular era of music got my attention because of the great mixture of music that took place at that time. I could write thousands of words regarding what I experienced reading about it, could talk about the hours I spent on the Internet listening to music videos, but better to share it with you on stage with my guitar.

Tzigane “Gypsy-Fingerstyle Guitar, Violin, and Percussion”
Tue, Jun 23, 7pm
Teatro Santa Ana
La Biblioteca
Reloj 50A
100 pesos

You will hear a mixture of blues, country, ragtime, bossa nova, classical, rock, gypsy, and more. The music is endless and so is the mixture of music resulting from what I am gathering just by experiencing what life offers me.

I settled here in San Miguel de Allende two years ago. In December 2014, I invited Israel Chávez to be part of Tzigane. He plays great violin and percussion, but it was mostly because of his commitment to music that I decided to invite him; for me this is the main ingredient that will give us the force to become great musicians, thus letting us share music with strength, dedication, and joy.

Thanks to you all who come to our shows, we have become friends and surely our Tzigane family will continue growing. This will be our ninth concert, and in eight previous concerts we have played 83 different songs ranging in different styles and levels of difficulty. Facebook: Almitri Tzigane
