The Tuesday Tianguis

By Sandra Ríos

One of the places that is a must-see in San Miguel de Allende is, without a doubt, the Tuesday Tianguis. An extensive open-air market that features a great variety of products ranging from clothing new or used, and Mexican antojitos such as tacos, gorditas, and even pizzas. You’ll also find fruit, vegetables, herbs, cheeses, fish, chicken, and health products, just to mention a few of the many things you’ll discover there.

This market is very crowded with both locals and expats, who go there to eat, buy clothes, run errands, or do their shopping for the week. This flea market is open from 9am to 4pm, and we recommend you arrive around 9am so that you find the best and freshest items, because in a few hours, everything will go! Also, the corridors will be a little less crowded to walk. Don’t miss the cecina tacos in the third part on the market. Enjoy the folklore, the colors, and scents of Mexico —all gathered at the Tuesday Tianguis!
