The Lamb and Mezcal Festival Returns for its Fifth Year

The festival returns with new organization and more and more growth in the quality of its meals and mezcal selections; 14 restaurants and 25-30 mezcalerías will participate. The location will be the Jardínes del Vergel at the Hotel Real de Minas, on Saturday, June 13.

Restaurants include La Bella Italia, Los Milagros, La Felguera, Casa de Aves, and La Parrilla del Patrón, among others. As for mezcal, brands come from Guanajuato, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, Oaxaca, Guerrero, Zacatecas, and Michoacán. The brands to be presented are El Marquéz, Los Danzantes, Alipús, Agave Divino, Marca Negra, Sangremal, and Meteoro, to name just a few. Throughout the event, there will be tastings of both food and drink from 1pm until 10pm at no additional cost beyond the admission ticket.

CANIRAC (National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry and Seasoned Foods) gave 20 kilos of lamb meat to each of the restaurants participating to supply the diners’ meals throughout the day. A DJ will liven up the scene for a few hours, followed by a group of mariachis. There will also be two lectures about the history of mescal—one at 1pm and another at 5pm—as well as live demonstrations of mezcal production. For those who want to delve deeper into the culture of this drink, mezcalier Alejandro Galia will be available in a booth to discuss mezcal with the guests.
