Also, San Miguel personality Eli Hans will make his premier with the band, singing jazz standards. Many of you know Eli well from his artistic contributions to the San Miguel theater community; with The Improv People; as a teacher; and as an interior designer. On May 30 during this Siempre Swing Sock Hop you will have the opportunity to hear him set a mellow dance mood, crooning favorites from “I’m Beginning to See the Light” to “It Had to Be You.”
Joining Eli and Carla Coto will be Siempre Swing’s regular vocalists Bárbara Lee and Mittie Roger.
With roots in a traditional San Miguel Mexican fiesta band and a North Carolina big band, Siempre Swing knows how to play polyrhythmic Latin, swing, and blues. Regardless of your dance style there will a reason to hit the dance floor. One minute it’s “Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White” and the next they’re swinging to “Satin Doll.”
For this event, El Sindicato will be transformed into a club with a large dance floor, small tables, auditorium seating, and beer/wine service. So if you’re “In the Mood” to “Jump, Jive and Wail” or simply tap your foot to the driving rhythms of this versatile swing band, El Sindicato is the place to be Saturday, May 30.
