San Miguel started a new industrial era with the inauguration of the Polígono Empresarial de San Miguel de Allende (the Polygon Industrial Park) on May 20 with the opening of Stant.
The grand opening was led by the governor of Guanajuato, Miguel Márquez Márquez; the mayor of San Miguel de Allende, José Luis Chagoyán; and Inacio Moriguchi, president and chief operating officer of Stant.
Stant is the first business to be established on the site, with an initial investment of five million dollars and around 300 employees working in production and administration. The company is a leader in the automotive industry with the manufacture of steam systems, fuel delivery, thermal management, and engineering services. In Guanajuato it will develop gas caps, radiator caps, valves, thermostats, and oil plugs, among other items. The Stant Company is a supplier to automotive industries such as Ford, Peugeot, Chrysler, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Honda, Land Rover, Volvo, and Mazda, to name just a few. The company will hire workers from San Miguel who are currently in training with the help of the Government Training Institute and some international experts in the field.
“Stant is proud to be expanding its global footprint, its customer base, its technology, and the skill sets of its workforce in the town of San Miguel de Allende. This world-class manufacturing facility is a key member of Stant’s global operations, showcasing modern technology that enables us to serve local and global vehicle OEMs and industrial and aftermarket customers,” said Inacio Moriguchi, who at the beginning of the event joined Governor Márquez on a tour of the factory facilities, showing him each of the products that will be manufactured there.
According to Governor Márquez, more industries are on the way to being installed in the business polygon. The location is very close to Corral de Pederast, about 10 minutes from San Miguel de Allende, and it is estimated that this polygon has a capacity to accommodate approximately 50 companies in an area of 200 hectares.
