Sabores San Miguel, Food Festival + Guest Chefs

After the great success of the past festivals, the third Sabores San Miguel will be held once again at Parque Juárez June 12 -14, 2015, as part of the Cumbre Internacional de la Gastronomía de Guanajuato. For the first time, the festival will include international guest chefs from San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Toronto, and London.

Sabores San Miguel is a food festival that gathers the culinary community of San Miguel de Allende to promote local restaurants and producers, promoting the gastronomic local scene.

This year we have seven guest chefs and  food writer participating: Carlo Mirarchi (Roberta’s/Blanca) NYC, Ted Torrado (Drake Hotel) Toronto, Neal Fraser (Redbird/Vibiana, he has been in Top Chef Masters and Iron Chef America) Los Ángeles, Joe Hargrave (Tacolicious/Chino) and Sara Deseran (food writer) San Francisco, Bret Thompson (Pez Cantina/Milk) Los Ángeles, Quentin Frye (Big Bear Café/Salt) Washington DC, and Lily Jones (The Lili Vanilli Bakery) from London.

On Thursday, June 11, we will have a special “Greet & Eat” event with the guest chefs at Casa del Parque (Calle Baeza 7, behind the park) from 7 to 10pm. Each chef will have a food station, plus open bar and live music. Proceeds will benefit Feed the Hungry San Miguel and Huertos Sustentables San Miguel. Tickets for 650 pesos / US$45 (all inclusive) are available at The Restaurant, Casa del Parque, or online at

The festival officially kicks off on Friday with the Inauguration of the event at the park. On Saturday, the restaurants will offer samples of gourmet food to showcase the style of their restaurant, and Sunday the theme will be “Street Foods of the World” to recreate the outdoor food markets worldwide as a tribute to street food. All sample dishes and beverages will be sold at 25 pesos. Entry to the festival is free and includes demonstrations, workshops, tastings, live music, children’s activities, and other festivities.

The food festival includes local restaurants as well as producers of bread, cheese, olive oil, wine, beer, mezcal, meats, and organic producers in the region.
