Grupo Ferretero Don Pedro Celebrates Its 35th Anniversary
By Jesús Aguado
In a family environment, Grupo Ferretero Don Pedro celebrated its 35th anniversary. Casa de Aves was the venue for celebrating Electricians’ and Plumbers’ Day, which annually honors those in the profession. More than 600 people attended the event, where a three- course meal was served. Later, the guests participated in all kinds of games that went from soccer, bingo, and dance to archery. With the suppliers’ support, Grupo Ferretero Don Pedro included a show with popular comedian Gustavo Munguía, who made children, teenagers, and adults smile and roar with laughter. The party closed with traditional mariachi music.
At the end of the event, the attendees participated in a raffle in which pumps, stationary tanks, appliances, and even a Honda motorcycle were awarded. The prizes were also donated by Don Pedro’s suppliers. Electricians’ and Plumbers’ Day is Don Pedro’s initiative that has been replicated in other cities of Guanajuato and other states.
Don Claudio Mayer, advisor of the group, commented that more than 35 years ago, Don Pedro was looking for a city to settle down in, and after searching for a magic town through several states in central Mexico, he found San Miguel de Allende. He opened a hardware store next to the bridge near Las Monjas. Since he was in price competition with stores in Celaya, he decreased prices and improved the product quality, and that is how the clients started arriving. Don Pedro has always had a great heart, and he trusted in the people’s word, so he gave them credit. They had a customer relationship based on confidence.
Currently, Don Pedro is the most important hardware group in San Miguel and the region. The group is working on expanding its franchise to the northern part of the state. Don Pedro will soon open its exhibition center on the road to Celaya at km 2.4, which will mark a new growing stage of the company.
