Emergent Artists Exhibition

On May 18, San Miguel and La Biblioteca will host “ViceVersa,” the First Week of Urban Culture Festival. This is an initiative from a group of young sanmiguelenses who have joined together in the Collective Allende la Cultura, a social organization of young civilians from San Miguel who are concerned about the big artistic, cultural, economic, and social differences that the youth community suffers. One of the main objectives is to bond and create links through art with the different young groups, especially with the marginalized ones. Under this excellent program. La Biblioteca has offered the space at the galleria in the café area to be used as an open forum for young emerging artists from the colonias. During the month of May, they will exhibit a collective mixture of painting, sculpture, artistic objects, and more—all fresh urban expressions of the forgotten kids from San Miguel suburbs. You will be amazed at this new stream of artists, using brushes, stencils, canvas, boards, and common objects to express their souls and culture. There will also be some local Mexican rap singers. Get to know these artists; talk to them, and support them by buying some of their special pieces of art.
