Five Years of Danza Viral Colectivo
By Helena Frigola
It’s been five years since Danza Viral started this journey back in Mazatlán, and two since they’ve chosen San Miguel de Allende as their home. Now they bring us the new production Imágenes Sueltas (Falling Images) on May 13 at Teatro Ángela Peralta.
Wed, May 13, 8pm
Teatro Ángela Peralta
Falling Images is an unpublished repertoire where dance is poetry in motion. The gentleness of the feminine body and esthetic precision of dance turn Falling Images into a clear performance, where a flawless rendition meets sensibility and sense.
With Falling Images, Danza Viral undresses the poetry until just bodies are left to express deep emotions as mourning, melancholy, or empathy.
Falling Images consists of six pieces in which Danza Viral plays and explores on the stage with innovative choreographies like Platillo: Flamencoráneo (Dish: Flamencorary), where they teach us, as a cooking class, how to blend flamenco with contemporary dance. They will also give us Instrucciones para el desamor (Instructions for Heartbreaking) on a piece inspired by Oliverio Girondo’s (Argentinean poet) poetry and show us the beauty of a body drawing on the stage, in Lienzo.
