The Restaurant Supports San Miguel Nonprofits
By John Doherty
One of the many outstanding characteristics of San Miguel de Allende that appeal to us and capture our hearts is the generosity of consideration, time, and money by many residents and visitors to others in need. San Miguel can easily be described as a very caring and giving community. An excellent example of this generosity is witnessed each month through an act of kindness by local restaurant owner and chef Donnie Masterton. A percentage of the Sunday proceeds of lunch and dinner from his fine establishment, The Restaurant at Sollano 16, is donated to a different San Miguel nonprofit each month throughout the year. During the month of April the nonprofit chosen to receive this gift is the very grateful Escuela de Educación Especial de San Miguel de Allende (San Miguel School for Special Education). This school’s mission is to provide quality education and vocational training to children and young adults who are deaf or hearing impaired to ensure they become literate, independent, and productive citizens who can set and achieve life goals. You can learn more about the school for these special children and young adults at http://www.eeesma.com.
Please join us at The Restaurant on Sundays and bring your family and your friends to enjoy a great dining experience and, in the process, help a deserving local nonprofit. You’ll find it very satisfying to the palate and good for the soul. Thank you, Donnie. And thank you to the many other kind and generous folks of San Miguel de Allende.
