Storytelling in San Miguel

San Miguel has long been considered a Mecca of creative expression, attracting artists and connoisseurs of art from all over the world. Workshops, gallery openings, theater, art history lectures, concerts, literary gatherings and writing conferences abound. Until recently, we thought that all artistic expression had a venue in San Miguel, but then we discovered something lacking.

Last spring, the San Miguel Literary Sala received a proposal from the Indigan Storyteller group in the USA to partner in offering a storytelling festival in our community. From that proposal the first of what will be annual San Miguel International Storytelling Festivals was born, and the response from the community was overwhelming.
Actress CheriRae Wright, director of the the San Miguel International Storytelling Festival, will share with the Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende – Midday the history and popularity of storytelling worldwide as well as the journey, popularity and future of storytelling in San Miguel. Hear her at Hotel Mision, Salida a Queretaro 1, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14. The presentation will be free.
