Join Us on our Journey to Easter
By William O. Gregg
The San Miguel community is invited to join a gathering for a simple meal of pozole, bread and beverage, seeing the film, “The Last Days of Jesus,” and after, a brief time for prayer followed by conversation. This is an especially poignant time to reflect together on the meaning of the Holy Weeks events for us today. The gathering will be on Tuesday in Holy Week, March 31.
The meal will begin at 5:30pm as a time to enjoy each others’ company. We shall then move into the church for a screening of The Last Days of Jesus (Spanish with English subtitles. The film presents the Passion Play of Tingen, The Netherlands. It is a production of the people in the village every five years, in the great tradition of the European Passion Play. It is an exciting and well-done production of Antony Linssen, who grew up in Tingen.
Following the showing of the film, we will gather for a time to write brief prayers, which will be place into a prayer fire as we offer them to God. These prayers may be about anything one wishes. After these brief prayers, we shall gather in the Parish hall where we shall have coffee and a conversation about the play, Holy Week, and the meanings of the last days of Jesus.
Tickets are available in advance only at St. Paul’s Church from Sunday, March 22 through Sunday, March 29. On Sundays, after both the 9 and 10:30am liturgies, and Monday through Friday, 10am-5pm in the Parish Office.
