Photographic Tertulia XVIII

By Flor Acosta

We are starting a new chapter of Photographic Tertulias. After a year and a half during which we consulted with photographers who were sharing their creative and professional processes, the purpose of these talks has changed. Now the Photographic Tertulia is more involved in seeing, observing, and understanding the photographic image and as a result reflects the parameters, concepts, and dissertations that we provide the scholars involved in the photo discipline.

“Though photography appeared barely 180 years ago, its transformation has been a whirlwind: the great 19th-century invention, it started to be a tool of man, a discipline of art of the 21st century, where not only photography, but also the art has been completely transformed. Today, the access we have to the world, thanks to photography, and the urgent need to set images networks, makes it a hydra with many heads. In this talk, I will briefly address, from different angles, some problems of contemporary photography and their impact on society,”says Ana Quiroz.

In this first lecture of the Photographic Tertulia XVIII, we will get to talk with the experienced curator of contemporary art, Ana Quiroz. You are invited to the Cultural Center Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante,” located at Hernández Macías 75, on March 26 at 6pm. We appreciate your punctual arrival.
