One Heavenly Day

By Sandra Ríos

One of the most exciting and memorable activities you can do in San Miguel is to take a trip in a aerostatico balloon and float above this beautiful city. If the weather permits, you’ll soar up beyond the clouds to enjoy a beautiful sunrise. The flight begins promptly at 6am. Upon landing, you can opt to have breakfast at a fine restaurant with the flight’s captain at an additional cost. 415 114-2174

After your ballooning adventure, we suggest you go to a place that has become a tradition to visiting San Miguel, Fábrica La Aurora. Walk the halls and discover galleries with exhibitions of painting, sculpture, and photography, and explore the shops filled with antiques and showcasing interior design. Some artists have their galleries here as well as the studios where they work. Many artists teach classes in painting or drawing. Those interested in spending an afternoon learning and getting to know the artist can easily make arrangements to join in.

If you want a good dinner, we suggest the Restaurant 1826, within the Rosewood Hotel. This restaurant specializes in Mexican food prepared with local, mostly organic, products. It has a stylish and comfortable indoor dining room and also a lovely outdoor setting. Ask about the chef’s suggestion of the day.

Late at night, we recommend visiting the Moon Rooftop Tapas Bar, located on the terrace of the Rosewood Hotel, to enjoy one of the best views of San Miguel in a relaxed atmosphere. Thursdays feature live music. Ask for one of the bar’s famous cocktails, and finish your day off the very best way.
