He came to America in 1971 with only a backpack and dreams, ready to start on his journey. He has adventured in 52 countries and resides between New York and Amsterdam, but now feels very much at home right here in San Miguel. He has appeared in theaters and clubs from Paris to Shanghai, from Bangkok to Rio de Janeiro. His carefully selected songs range from the songs of Aznavour, Brel, and Piaff to Piazolla. He sings in five languages, with passion and European charm. He has been called a consummate entertainer. Cabaret Scenes wrote, “Riveting show with a passion that binds the audience to him.” Backstage wrote, “Bloem comes across as part bohemian and part boulevardier, with the sparkle of a showman.”

Cabaret style was developed in the 50′s in the locales of Montmartre and in Berlin. Bloem has lived so long in New York that he has mastered the New York cabaret style, which emphasizes intelligent lyrics and a personal way to approach the audience. Recently in New York, he performed the avant-garde Kabaret Kollektiff.  His Stories of Life will open in New York in March and in Holland in April.

Last year’s show here in San Miguel, Sin Fronteras, was a huge success. Bloem says, “This magical city has indeed the energy of serendipity, all kinds of miracles take place here daily.”

He will be accompanied by Jaime Mininos and Jorge Gutiérrez.
