El Sindicato Marks Its 20th Anniversary
By Sandra Ríos
Centro Cultural, El Sindicato, celebrates 20 years of providing a space to sanmiguelenses where the arts of diverse disciplines converge. This place is for the people of the town, where non-commercial quality culture can be presented. Here it is agreed that teachers will offer one scholarship for every five students in each class. There is also a program through which young people do social service so they can relate to culture. The El Sindicato Board is composed of Cesar Arias, Rocío Ríos, David Yazpick, and Oscar Plazola. In an interview with Oscar Plazola, manager of public relations and programming of the forums, he said: “We still think we can continue being independent. This gives us freedom to present what we want and not owe anyone any favors. We look for things that have a creative approach behind them, whether social, political or artistic.” To celebrate the 20th anniversary, El Sindicato will offer various events throughout the year, highlighting the Botellita de Jerez musical group next April 18.
