Almitri Tzigane, Fingerstyle Guitar

By Almitri Tzigane

Fingerstyle Guitar is the technique of playing guitar with the fingertips as opposed to just with a pick or single plectrum. This involves a completely different technique, not just a style of playing, especially for the right hand. One of the most interesting facts is that you can hear the bass line being played with the thumb and the melody with the other fingers so it seems like two guitars are playing when its actually just one. Also, with the introduction of percussions and violin, the musical colors are getting bigger.

Almitri Tzigane began touring around the Mexican republic on 2012, from Cd. Juárez, Chihuahua, to Cancún, Quintana Roo, playing in different places as he moved in his motorcycle from north to south of the republic. Now established in San Miguel, he continues with concerts offering different styles of music, like blues, country, rag time, rock and roll, bossa nova, and classical, all played with this fingerstyle technique, adding to the gypsy jazz manouche music.

Fingerstyle Guitar in Mexico is not too popular yet. It would be a good idea to come and check it out at the public library.
