If you are a lover of gardening, gardens, plants, and particularly interesting presentations, you will not want to miss this event with David Tarrant as he shares his fascinating horticultural experience and expertise. Highly respected expert and 17-year Canadian Broadcasting television host, Tarrant will speak about his extraordinary garden tours to South Africa, accompanied with a beautiful slide presentation. An eight-year resident of San Miguel, Tarrant will share his expertise and take questions regarding gardening issues we experience here.

Born in England, Tarrant trained as an apprentice gardener there, emmigrating to Canada in 1967. He worked at a garden center in Toronto and went on to be head gardener at Chateau Lake Louise in 1968 and 1969. In November 1969, David joined the staff of The University of British Columbia Botanical Garden and was promoted to education coordinator. He subsequently became public relations coordinator for the garden in 2000, ultimately working for UBC for more than 37 years. For the next 17 years Tarrant co-hosted and subsequently hosted CBC Television’s popular national gardening program, “Canadian Gardener.”

Throughout his amazing career, he has written articles for numerous horticultural publications as well as seven books. In 2000, Tarrant received the Fellow of the Year Award from the Garden Writers Association. He is an expert international garden tour guide, having led 36 tours around the world. Tarrant is also in demand locally and internationally as a public speaker.

The San Miguel Garden Club is delighted to welcome Tarrant, to get a glimpse of his expertise and multifaceted life as horticulturist extraordinaire. Don’t miss out on his enlightening presentation, February 24 at St. Paul’s Church Community Room, 11am. Seating is limited and reservations are required if you would like to attend.
