Young Opera Singers Triumphed

By Sandra Ríos

On February 1, Opera San Miguel introduced its first Mexico-Canada Concert Co-OPERA-tivo in the Miguel Malo auditorium at Bellas Artes. The impressive concert by the Canadian soprano Tamara Rusqué and the Mexican tenor Fabián Lara used their strong, well-trained voices to thrill the audience with operas, operettas, and arias. They were accompanied by pianist Mario Alberto Hernández. At the end of the performance, the audience gave the young performers a standing ovation for a masterful performance on stage. The sold-out event was introduced by the former Mexican Ambassador to Canada, David Winfield, and the emcee and artistic Director of Opera San Miguel, John Bills.
