Realidad y fantasía
By Judith Soberanes
Anita Bucherer Godeffroy was born in Bonn, Germany. She began studying art from a young age in Paris, France and later in Berlin, Germany.
From 1961 to 1965 she continued her art studies in prestigious art schools in New York, taking part in various exhibitions.
In her long artistic career she has spent long periods of time in Spain, England, United States and the Scandinavian Countries painting and exhibiting.
From 1966 onwards she has lived for months at a time in San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato and in Mexico City, being invited as a special guest in exhibitions in Galería Antonio Souza, Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo José Luis Cuevas and Galería Misrachi.
She now lives in Munich, Germany.
One could say that Anita Bucherer’s painting is surrealistic, school of the illusionary and phantasmagorical with touches of magic realism.
She introduces in her work experiences and symbols, which come from pre-Columbian cultures, from Egypt, the Renaissance and the Holy Scriptures, always treated with wise naïveté as if they were oneiric obsessions. Her characters and mythological beings, as well as the fauna, which she depicts in her work, are humorous and spring from her enormous fantasy. Her painting shows her great ability to draw with great detail but above all a great power of observation. Her inspiration is mainly her great imagination.
Anita Bucherer’s exhibition “Realidad y Fantasía” will be open until March 1st, at Galería Estudio Rolando García in Fábrica La Aurora.
