The word “magic” comes from Magi, which was a religious element used by magicians in ancient Babylon. There were magicians in Rome, Greece, and most of the ancient world, both in Europe and East Asia. In ancient times, the magic was related more to initiation rites of fertility or religion. It was thought that the shaman or wizard was knowledgeable about the invisible world of spirits.

In the Middle Ages, the public in small towns and villages had access to magic thanks to those magicians who traveled within a group of performing artists ( circus or theater ) or were independent street magicians.

The troupe of “The Comedy of the Universe” strikes again with this extremely funny show that combines extraordinary (?) magic tricks with the most sublime comedy. Most of it is pantomime; body language, and hilarious routines that will drop you from your seat in laughter. This show is designed for adult audiences, but it could be watched by kids, who will laugh and enjoy these three brave magicians from the far east of San Miguel: Tuti Lennon as “Rascahr Urticar” (Scratching Itching), Ivette Socorro as the Russian diva “ Ladelaescoba,” and Jose Luis Mendoza as “Sudhar Al Fahar” (Sweats while he cuddles). Do not miss this extraordinary opportunity to enjoy the fascinating world of failures and assets this coming Friday  and Saturday, Jan 23 and 24 at the Santa Ana Theater in the Biblioteca de San Miguel. Tickets 100 pesos at the theater box office.
