To inaugurate this new cultural exchange with Canada, Ambassador Sara Hradecky has asked her second in command, Minister-Counsellor Bez Babakhani, to attend the concert and make a presentation on behalf of Canadians in Mexico.
In Montreal this November, Toronto-born Tamara Rusqué was the winner of the Opera San Miguel Prize at the 22nd gathering of Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques, an organization dedicated to promoting the career aspirations of young singers in Canada and around the world. At the same event, Fabián Lara became the first-ever Mexican singer to win the International Artist Prize. “It was a proud night for Mexico and for Opera San Miguel to have Fabián win this prize in our very first participation in Montreal,” says OSM Artistic Director, John Bills. “And the Canadian singer I chose for the OSM Prize is uniquely talented, a beautiful young woman with an opulent and expressive sound and striking stage personality. I hope Canadians living here, as well as all Sanmiguelenses who love extraordinary voices, will turn out for this important new cultural exchange.”
