During the week of November 2-9, two criminal events occurred in this city. The cases included discharges of firearms. San Miguel District Attorney René Urrutia disclosed that these cases have been solved and now are in court.
The first case took place near El Obraje neighborhood, where two groups of men got into a street fight. A member of one group had a gun, shot a man in the abdomen four times, and wounded two more. The condition of the first victim was critical. The other case was registered in colonia San Felipe where two men who had quarreled previously were driving two different vehicles when one of them shot the other, who was with his two daughters at the time. At the time of this interview, the man’s condition was reported as critical. Urrutia told Atención that the next step is handing over the case to a control judge who will be in charge of determining penal action against the defendants. “The cases are clear, and we know who those responsible are.” Previously there was unofficial information claiming that organized crime was involved in the second case, but Urrutia denied that.
In the case that involves a police officer who shot a man in self-defense, Urrutia commented that the investigation will be handed over to a judge who must determine penal action against the police officer.
The District Attorney remarked that the Ministerio Público is working to complete all the investigations because “I am very committed to maintaining San Miguel as a tranquil city where people can live and cohabitate.” As in any other city, he highlighted, things like these happen, and we cannot and should not hide them.
