Guitarist Mauricio Sánchez has developed an intense love for the music of his country as a member of various groups that run the spectrum of popular music of Mexico and Latin America. He presents a repertoire of Spanish music of the 18th century as well as Gypsy Flamenco. Mauricio Sánchez combines his work as an educator with activities related to education and awareness of art through music in the cultural spaces of the city and in rural communities of the northern area of Guanajuato.
Casa de los Ángeles currently services 100 children from 85 families, from infants to four years old. Founded in 2000 as a safe haven for single moms serving San Miguel’s poorest children, this amazing organization has blossomed into a community center providing medical care, a food bank, an emergency shelter, transitional housing, and scholarships, as well as other services. In the spirit of community, Casa de los Ángeles families are required to participate in the life of the daycare center by giving one hour of service for each day their child is present. Casa de los Ángeles has hosted nearly 1,500 children, ensuring food is in their bellies, their minds are challenged, and there’s a smile on every face.
