A wonderful book is often the most appreciated and most thoughtful holiday gift for many of your friends and family. The San Miguel Book Expo is your chance to shop for books by local authors and those who have come through San Miguel to speak.

Under the leadership of Margaret Tallis, the Book Expo has grown each year as San Miguel residents and visitors realize what discoveries await them when they visit the Expo.

We invite you to stop by to see the wealth of literary talent among San Miguel residents, to meet local authors, and to have your books signed and personalized. You are sure to find books you will want to read for yourself, as well as holiday gifts.

Books on display will include several books about San Miguel and Mexico and about the experience of living here. The San Miguel’s Literary Sala’s two-volume anthology of stories about San Miguel, Solamente En San Miguel, will be available, as well as John Scherber’s new book, Into the Heart of Mexico. Several San Miguel residents have recently completed memoirs, including Matthew Carroll, whose book Who Quinn Became is hot off the press. Margaret Tallis’s fascinating read about her experience with witchcraft, The Known, will be among the offerings.

Elsmarie Norby, the director of the extraordinary after-school arts and literature program for children in the campo, called Ojala Niños, will be at the fair with her wonderful greeting cards featuring her captivating photos of San Miguel and of the children in her program.

Plan to stop by the Book Expo on Saturday, November 8 from 11am to 2pm. The Expo will be located in the lovely courtyard of the Instituto Allende. The entrance is at Ancha de San Antonio 22, one door to the right of the main Instituto entrance, just down the street from the Saturday Organic Market.
